War Baby: To the Faroes & St. Kilda
The famous racing yacht War Baby, converted to an Arctic exploring cruiser, returns from the high Arctic regions to explore two of the most remote North Atlantic islands, the Faroes and St. Kilda. After a 600 mile passage across the Norwegian Sea, the crew sights the mist-enshrouded Faroe Islands. They go ashore to explore the main islands and find spectacular scenery and quiet fishing villages. The capital, Torshaven, proves to be strikingly modern and sophisticated. A rough, foggy crossing to Stornoway, in the outer Hebrides, is followed by a smooth passage to St. Kilda, Britain's most remote island group. Despite a military base, the islands retain an air of mystery with their strange past.
