A Top Five Seller
Note: The material in this program meets the requirements for student certification or bareboat charter level of "Day Cruising Skipper" by the National Association of Sailing Instructors and Sailing Schools.
This program is designed for novice sailors with little or no practical sailing experience. By using proven techniques it provides the needed knowledge and skills to sail with confidence, the first step to becoming an expert.
All the action takes place on a 24 foot Rainbow sloop and features well known skipper and instructor Bud Foulke.
The program begins by covering the essential parts of the boat, rigging a boat, leaving a mooring, reading the the water for wind direction and velocity, adjusting the sails and steering and tacking.
Next on the DVD is jibing, returning to mooring, anchoring, rules of the road, coping with problems, man overboard and refinements in sailing to windward.
The final third of the program deals with preparing for heavy weather, handling strong gusts, reading the wind, prevention and recovery of knockdown or capsizing and coping with short storms. Plus there is an introduction to spinnakers: setting, flying, jibing, dousing and dealing with problems.
